Principles
How Burdn ismeant to work.
Anonymity changes how people talk to each other. These are the commitments that shape Burdn, each matched to what the app actually does and to the document that governs it.
Anonymous to each other
Your posts and replies appear under a persona, not your real account. Your real account identity — including any email or sign-in identifier — is never shown to other users.
Anonymous, not lawless
Being unidentifiable to other users does not make this an unmoderated space. Anonymity is what makes honesty possible here; it is not cover for harming someone.
Reporting and blocking, built in
Use the ••• menu on any Burdn or reply to report it or block the account behind it. Blocking applies to the account behind a persona, not just to one persona name.
Replies from people, not an audience
Replies come from people, not from an audience that knows you. Some posts are examples the Burdn team wrote to show how the app works. They use the same persona masks members choose.
The minimum we need
Sign-in is passwordless, so there is no password to leak or reuse. We keep the minimum internal records needed to prevent abuse and keep the community safe. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Yours to delete
You can delete your account in the app at any time. When you do, the Burdns and replies you posted are removed from Burdn.
For adults
Burdn is for people 18 and older.
Not an emergency service
Burdn is a place to be heard, not a crisis service. If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
This page summarises; it doesn’t replace the documents it links to. Where they differ, the legal documents are what apply.
