Delete your Burdn account

Burdn is the anonymous venting app operated by Ekuty LLC. You can permanently delete your Burdn account and personal data at any time — either inside the app or by asking us to do it for you. This page explains both options and what happens to your data.

Delete your account inside the app

The fastest way to delete your account is from within Burdn on your device:

  1. You
  2. Account actions
  3. Delete account

Confirm when prompted. Your account is deleted right away — you don’t need to email us if you use this option.

Request deletion without opening the app

If you can’t sign in or would rather we handle it, send us a deletion request by email. You do not need to log in to this page.

Email a deletion request

This opens a message to support@burdn.app with the subject “Burdn Account Deletion Request” already filled in. In your message, include only:

  • the email address used for your Burdn account
  • whether you signed in with Email, Apple, or Google

Never include your password, a verification code, an access token, or your Apple or Google sign-in credentials. We will never ask for these, and you don’t need them to delete your account.

How the request is handled

To protect your account, support may take a step to verify that you own it before completing the deletion. This prevents someone else from deleting your account.

Once ownership is confirmed, we delete the account and its personal data as described below, and reply to confirm it’s done.

What happens when your account is deleted

Deleting your Burdn account is permanent and cannot be undone. When it is deleted:

  • your email address and other personal details are removed from your account;
  • the Burdns and replies you posted are removed from Burdn, and their text and persona are erased;
  • your likes, reactions, saves, reads, and follows are deleted;
  • your active sessions are signed out;
  • your notification push tokens are removed;
  • your private drafts are deleted;
  • your private notification inbox and notification settings are deleted;
  • your Burdn Premium access ends.

Replies other people wrote under your Burdns are no longer shown, but their text belongs to them and is not deleted with your account.

We keep a minimal record that the account was deleted, so it cannot be signed in to again, along with reports, moderation, block, and abuse-prevention records, for as long as they are needed for safety and legal reasons. Where the law requires it, content that is the subject of an open child-safety report may be preserved under restricted access. Purchase records are kept by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat under their own policies. The records of sign-in codes we emailed you are not currently deleted on a fixed schedule.

Apart from these records, your data is removed from our live systems when your account is deleted. Copies in our encrypted backups expire on a fixed schedule within about 14 months. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Burdn Premium and store subscriptions

Deleting your Burdn account ends your Burdn Premium access, but it does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. If you subscribed to Burdn Premium through a store, you must cancel the subscription yourself in that store to stop future charges — through your Apple App Store account (Subscriptions) or your Google Play account (Subscriptions).

Delete specific content without deleting your account

You can delete your own Burdns and replies at any time and keep your account. In Burdn, open your Burdn, tap More options (•••), choose Manage Burdn, then Delete — or delete it from You → My Burdns. To delete a reply, use Delete on your reply. Deleting content removes it for everyone and cannot be undone. It does not delete your Burdn account.
